I once dropped a mag full of my swc .45 cast bullet reloads in a creek, recovered it the next day, all were duds. I"d heard about the "dope:", used it to seal around the primers and case mouths, submerged 7 rds, and FORGOT about them for a week. All 7 fired normally. I suggest either airtight GI ammo cans for longterm .22lr storage, or treat each rd around the case mouth, as above, I once buried several cases of Remington golden bullets, just in the cardboard cases, with 100 rd plastic boxes, and a few months later, (1978 production) I had LOTS of misfires. The looseness of the .22lr bullets in the cases should be a BIG warning about how "waterproof" they AINT.

Even Miculek, whose JOB is to shoot, and who is given FREE ammo and revolvers by Smith, says that the 1911 is where it's at for ease of control of rapidfire. :-) 9 hits per second, guys. split times, between shots is .12 second. the first shot is not part of the "timed event". He also demonstrates the use of a 1911 in each hand, on 2 targets, and "fanning" the trigger of a 1911, in order to get repeat hits in .09" second. 600 rpm, like a German MP40 smg, from ww2. He misses the silohuette, at 5 yds or so, a few times out of 10 tries with the fanning, but the same would be true of a mac 10, if used without the buttstock and the suppressor, believe that!

So when you see cops take 4-5 seconds to draw and get 6 hits, at 7 yds, you can laugh to yourself. :-)

works best with the custom fitted plugs, availalbe thru the ad in NRA mags. they send you a kit, you make a wax copy of your inner ears, send copies to them, they make plastic replicas, with a tiny hole thru each. so you hear normal sounds, but blasts are excluded. or use Norton sonic earvalves, $30 or so.

put a "clamshell" plug case into front pants pocket, with a nylon lanyard going up to your belt. after you get to cover, stick your pistol IWB, grab lanyard, yank out the case. open the case and dump the plugs into one hand. drop the case, transfer one plug to the other hand, stuff in ears. 5 seconds or less. Can be done as you "peek" around cover, of course. at different spots, 1 second per peek. Or leave the gun in one hand, slow down a bit, risk dropping one plug, risk pointing the gun at your head when you install the plugs. /ear protection doubles your effective range, guys, like from 5 yds to 10 yds. I know nobody likes to hear that, but it's the truth, proven again and again. Adrenalin dump ruins your ability for fine nerve control, like of your trigger finger.

have your run your kahr across it? what are your repeat times averaging with karh, at say 5 yds, vs say what you can do with a 1911 or P35 Brownin or glock? I dont have a lot of DA experience, but I've got 200,000 rds thru SA autos. i can't reliably get hits with the karh much under .24 second, while I can get .18 second repeats the the alloy commander .45, even. if i have to fire at a guy 5 times, being .06 second slower with each one means that he gets a "free shot at me. I dont like that, a t, all.

My gunsmith turned me on to FrogLube CLP, and I really like the stuff ! I had always used CLP or G96 to clean and lube my handguns. I know many gun owners use a variety of products made to specifically clean and or lubricate their guns, to motor oil.....etc. And it seems that new products come out all the time looking to claim your dollars. I was skeptical and thought that it was another waste of money for a gun product. I have just started using it on one of my 1911's, twice so far. I am pleased with the product in that the gun was easier to clean after shooting. The residue didn't seem to stick to the gun and was easier to clean / wipe off. The lube is on the thick side and has a minty smell. It is not petroleum based and safe on all parts, plastic grips, wood.....etc. Once you wipe it down it is more waxy feeling than oily. The action racking the slide for example was very, very smooth. They say that as the product is used more and more, it works its way into the pores of the metal and even gets better over time ?!! It also prevents oxidation on the metal surfaces as well. They say to apply it to your weapon after heating it up with a hair dryer or heat gun, so the product will penetrate better. I just used it at room temp, as the gun is shot it will warm up allowing the product to penetrate. I'm going to use it on my other guns as I think this product is actually really good. I know everyone has their favorite that they have used forever, and don't see a reason, or like to break from their traditional routine and product. But.......you might give it a try like I did. Just maybe you will find that it works as well, and in fact better for you as I did. Oh, and you can also use it on your knives as well.............!!!!!!!

Hello everyone just found this site. I'm from Central PA and will be a new Kahr owner very soon. Just looking for a place to get all the info and research I can get on Kahr firearms. Knowing me if my first Kahr is great I'll try to own a bunch of them. I think the size on almost of them is great for all round carry and shootability. Looking forward to my stay here

if you shorten .460 Rowland cases .060", they fit into .45 ACP chambers just fine. With a fully supported barrel, such cases safely get 70 grs to 2200 fps in a 4" barrel. That is 700 ft lbs, guys. Given a large, conical cavity in the base of the solid aluminum hp, there is much more powder space available, and it's needed, too, because a mere 7.0 grs of Bullseye won't even cycle the slide with such a lw bullet. That is not a typo, SEVEN GRAINS, not even on a Defender, with its much lighter slide (than a govt' model). I won't incite the ignorant with a quote of how much BE the real deal loads use! :-)

At mach II impact speeds, the temporary gas cavity can and does damage fragile vital organs, beyond what tissues are actually touched by the bullet. The .45 diameter bullet gives the same effect, at 2200 fps, that the 60 gr 223 sp delivers (at 2400 fps), Which is to say, very great destruction of tissue and a tremendous amount of shock to the nervous sytem. Only psychological quitting, (or a brain hit or luck hit to the spine) has ANY potential to give us the instantaneous stop that we need. NO hit to the heart, lungs, spleen, liver, or kidneys can physically incapacitate a man, not for several seconds, at least. Not even with 308 ball. What happens, when we see a man fall to the shot, is that the shot causes him so much pain and shock that he QUITS, then he bleeds out, (or organ damage will shut him down) a few seconds later.

Recoil is momentum, which is just mass of the bullet times its velocity. 70 grs at 2200 fps has the SAME momentum as 220 grs at 700 fps, or 230 grs at 670 fps, or 100 grs at 1450 fps, or 115 grs at 1250 fps. In other words, it's quite easy to control in rapdidfire, with a lwc, compact ccw gun. It does have a LOT of flash and blast, but hey, you "think" that a 223 or 12 ga DOESN'T? :-)

The reason that such pistol loads are not offered commerically is that they pierce Kevlar vests. Such performance is not illegal in and of itself, but ammo makers are not willing to upset LEO's by commercially offering such ammo. Also, the ignorant will complain about this and that about such rds, (without, of course ever firing a single shot with such ammo, much less comparing them with other loads, for tests on flesh and blood, with animals) and without any reasoning at all behind their argument. While they would retail for about $3 a shot, that is not a real deterrent. Glaser has been getting that sort of money for over 35 years now, for ammo with MUCH less performance.

Sure, such a .45 load WILL fail to stop men, about 1-2 times in 100 shootings, with solid chest hits. So do 12 ga slugs, so what's your point? You can't ccw the 12 ga, nor use it swiftly with just one hand, either. With a 2 segment bullet, this load can be made to create two diverging wound paths in the attacker, with the first few inches of near-parellel travel showing the tissue between the wounds pulped by the tempory gas cavity of the 2200 fps impact. Animal tests prove this to be one really effective handgun load. By comparison, this load makes 230 gr .45 jhp's look like what they really are, (ie, not much).

Civilians (justifiably) shoot attackers at well under 10 yds, and usually at less than 10 ft, so muzzle velocities ARE impact velocities, essentially. Now just watch somebody complain about the "lost power" of such lw, high speed bullets at 50 yds. :-) Hell, I WANT my defensive handgun bullets to fall straight to the ground after traveling 30 yds, since there is almost zero likelihood of them hitting anyone that (anyone) is shooting at, when it's for real, beyond such a distance. And you ARE responsible for where every bullet ends up, if you fire it.

Without ear protection, and while being shot-at, this is the reality of handgun combat. You just don't hit the chest much, beyond 5 yds, or the man at all, beyond about 10 yds, I dont care who you are. The target is moving, the light is bad, your ears are blown out from the blasts, and you are ducking incoming fire. Yeah, I, too, can hit 10" gongs, from standing unsupported, at 100 yds, with a match 1911, taking all day to do so and under ideal conditions. So what? Nobody comes even close to such performance when it's for real. What you see is 90% complete misses, at 10 yds. :-)

My carry gun had been a P9, but I wanted something more compact, so I purchased a CM9 to solve this problem.

Went to my "farm" in the country and put about a 100+/- rounds through the CM9. Had one failure to feed, due to a slightly long reload. I ran several mags of mixed bullet styles with no issues.

I actually like the feel of the CM9 over the P9, even though the CM9 has a shorter grip.

Very satisfied with my purchase.
