New Kahr .40 (CW 40) jams/won't cycle
I bought a brand new Kahr .40 (CW 40) from a reputable gun shop about a month ago for use as my new concealed carry weapon ... I've pumped 225-250 rounds thru it in an effort to break it in (Win FMJ) ... but even after firing that many rounds thru it, it only cycles rounds correctly <25% of the time (if that!) ... it ejects the spent round, but does not load the next round from the magazine (from either a 6 round mag or 7 round mag - it make no difference) ... with the slide stuck in the rear position (but not locked like after the last round is fired) ... I have to manually work the slide (push/pull it forward to get it to chamber the next round) ... anybody else have this problem? ... very frustrating/disappointing ... thanks!
You are gonna have to return that CW40 to KAHR. Sounds like you have a bad frame, they wont pay for shipping so be prepared to cover that cost. My experience with their CC has been less than dazzling, the repairs may or may not be repaired under warranty.
I have a similar problem with a MK40 and KAHR Service was of no help.
I just purchased a MK40 Elite and I am very disappointed in the GUN and KAHR Service. I have previously owned three Glocks and I have never had a problem with them.
When I went to the range the first time, I fired 200 rounds to break in the gun, and three to four times, the slide stayed back, like the magazine was empty, but it was not. I pulled back on the slide and released it and the rest of the magazine fired fine.
I assumed this was just part of the breakin, but I went to the range yesterday, fired 100 rounds and the same thing happened two or three times.
I am using American Eagle ammunition, and I used the same ammunition on a Glock 23 and the Glock fired 100 out of 100 with no failures, on the samr range trip.
I purchased this gun for Self Defense, and it is not useful If I cannot depend on it.
I called Kahr Service, and they were not helpful at all, they said if it is is working 97% of the time, it is not the guns fault. How can that be! If I am using it for self defense it must work 100% of the time like my Glocks.
Kahr service refuses to do anything. I am suprised becasue I thought Kahr was a quality product, but obiously it is not and Kahr does not stand behind their guns.
Does anyone know what can cause this. I thought it might be due to a defective recoil spring but the Kahr Tech refused to do anyting, because it was working 97% of the time and he thought that was ok and not the recoil spring. I need a gun that I can count on, works 100% of the time if I am going to use it for self defense.
Kahr refused to do anyting!
Does it do it from the start of your shooting?
You got it clean and lubed up?
You know about limpwristing?
Have you taken you mags apart and cleaned them really good. Thats some nasty oil they put in them at the factory!!
I took my cw40 to the range yesterday for the first time, I broke it down and cleaned and lubed it well before going and it shot great . I put 50 federal fmj and 50 winchester hp through it and only 1 FTF ! 99 good shots ! still got to get use to the sights !
It does it in the middle of shooting, usually the second or third bullet.

I doubt that I am limp wristing, I have shot 12,000 rounds in the last 12 months on three different glocks, with no problems. It is also happening to my son, who has almost as much experience as me.
I have inspected the mags and they look pretty clean
I called Kahr a second time and got a more helpful person. She told me she thought it was the slide lock and is sending me a new one. I just recievedit today and plan on trying it over the weekend. I hope this fixes the gun as I really like the MK40 elite, but it is only useful to me if it is 100% dependable.
You might check and see if the bullies are hitting the stop. Hope the new one fixes to you.
Might have to try some different rounds.

Having the samel problem with my P45. Called kahr and they are sending me a part (sounded like a magazine catch, but I could be wrong-was hard to hear him).
I called Kahr a second time and this time they told me the problem was the slide lock. I replaced the slide lock and was able to shoot 100 rounds with no failure. I would like to go to the range one more time and shoot another 100 rounds before I declare victory, but this looks promissing.
