Doing this you'll have a black one years before they become available. I wouldn't expect to see a black one out and readily available for two years.

let's face it you can't hardly get a P380 or K9 series weapon!

Or you can wait until early 2010, get a P380 with night sights and then send off the slide for DLC coating.

I would not and I say this again, I WOULD NOT even advise messing with taking the trigger out. U are asking for big time issues if you do. besides that pin that you visably see that only comes out one way, that pin is also held by another pin, if u look at the bottom of the trigger area in the polymer, you willsee what looks like a nail. That is a keeper for that trigger pin to never move. Just leave the trigger system totally alone.. do what ever to the slide if it floast ur boat...

What's that House Black about? Is that like a gloss piano black? 40 bucks for a p380 isn't bad, and that finish sounds impressive!

They did the frame of my Para. It started of life looking in a all stainless finish. Frame is now blackened stainless.

I had a Para carry 9, love dthe gun, super trigger, but their factory black finish on the frame was the worst I have ever seen. It chipped from day #1. I sent it back to para and they put the OD green finish on it for around $80 and it was even worse. They have the worst alloy finish of any gun I have ever owned. Lots of complaints about Para's finish for whatone pays for them.

Sure was a nice shooter though, when it worked properly..

The finish on my Para frame was done by CCR. It's about 5 years old now. Still like new.

it's funny that you both mention para. I am at work, and just after I posted my question, my friend came in to shoot the bull...

I started telling him about my plans to re-finish the p380, and he instantly mentions his para 45, and how he doesn't like the finish on it.

Then I check back here, and it's the same thing

He did say to check the warranty from Kahr, first, before re-finishing the slide.

Maybe that is where Para needs to get their frames finished. They sure can't do it right..

sometimes these refinishers and the type of finish they put on a gun can actually have negative effects on the over all operation of the gun. Some of these very durable finishs are thicker than normal blueing and tolerances do change and some times guns don't work as good was whenyou sent it in. Again theyw illneed break in time and also good companies who do this refinishing know how to properly prep a gun to. Stick with the good refinish companies andone should be OK.
I would think kahr would not be against one gettig his handugn refinished. what one has to realize is that if down the road your gun gives problems and it turns out to be a bad slide, kahr willdo no more than replace the slide and you will be out your costs of refinishing. Course that is a rarity.

well especially since I've been reading about the bullet case hitting the slide stop, and Kahr sending out new slides, slide stops, and springs...I would definately wait until I made sure the known issues were out of the way, before getting a refinish done.

But I just didn't want the slide refinish to void my entire warranty simply due to a 40 dollar external upgrade.

If you say that some of these aftermarket finishes are thicker, that could be a problem, since I've heard that the polymer overmold around the slide rails is really tight, as things are.

actually once the P380 slide is on the gun the polymer rails should never come into contact with the slide. They are there to #1 help guide the slide on the gun and #2 to give the upper grip area some additonal structural support..

another reason why I recommend racking the P380 slide on the gun about 500 times. If there is any excess polymer in that area, racking the slide will smooth those areas out without wasting alot of ammo doing it and possably even getting some feed issues. Some of the earlier model kahrs has some excess polymer left in that area and it caused some issues. I think today though that area of concern has been taken care of. My PM9 has 23,500 rounds through it and the polymer guide rails look totally new--as they should look also..
