I went ahead and installed my Big Dot sights this evening. It was actually very easy following the package instructions and the online video at the XS Systems website.
Some pointers. If you remove the stock sights from left to right with the barrel pointing away from you it will be very easy to remove the stock sights. I used a steel drift punch (didn't have brass) and they came off with a little persuasion from my mallet.
As you install them, the front sight will probably need to be filed per the video. I filed the base of the front sight until I felt I had removed enough material and then I filed the front angle of the base. When you do this be very careful not to remove too much. It comes off very quickly. I would do one swipe of the file and then test fit each time until you can insert the sight 1/2 way on. Then drift it on with the non-marring tool supplied with the sights. I removed a little more than I wanted but it seems to be fine with the red locker fluid provided in the kit. If it loosens, I will burr up the front a little re-fasten it.
The rear sight needed no adjustments and it slid on with minor force. I did not used locking fluid on the rear yet and only lightly tightened the two allen screws. I will lock it down after test firing.
The factory sights were okay but the Big Dot set is the best imaginable. Remember, remove from left to right and install from right to left.
