Welcome XFllyboy......

Well I suspect your suspicions may be correct. I think?? the guide rod end can be out of its seat on the barrel lug, and is dragging on the frame.
I think you are on the right track with the pliers...... -holding the gun in your hand with the grip down, barrel horizontal- If you can get a good grip on the end of the rod- pull it outward- then try to push down on the end- which should lift up on the seat end and slowly release it. If it seats- then the slide should come off-

Pull slide back to line up take down marks- remove takedown pin- pull trigger and hold it- pull slide off.

P.S. I have seen this on other guns, but not on a Karh. That recoil spring is pretty stout.....you may need a helper or a vice to hold the gun.

Can you pull the slide back?
If yes, then can you remove the takedown pin?
If yes, then can you pull the trigger?
If yes, then you should be able to hold the trigger in and pull the slide off.

Here is a pic of my CT 380....
looking at the recoil assembly- I believe the end of yours is hung up where mine is in the pic.
I believe if you can pull the slide back far enough to remove the take down pin...pull the trigger and hold it (no mag in the gun!) - then you should be able to pull that slide off.
It will be HARD to do- as the end cap on the recoil rod is rubbing against the frame- and the front end of the recoil rod is binding in that exit hole in the front of the slide.

....... I was also shooting +P ammo and wonder whether that was the source of the trouble......
No.

Kahr pistols are rated for +p. They state this on the on their website in the questions and answers......

Im glad you got it.
With the gun disassembled- you should be able to put the recoil spring assembly in place, with the barrel in- then turn the slide upside down and shake it- and the spring should stay in place.
If it doesn't stay in place- then there is a problem.
If it does stay in place- it should be good to go.

I don't have that gun...but I do have the CT 380. When you re-assemble the gun....be careful to make sure the back end of the slide sits down all the way to the frame and BOTH rails are inside the slide. If not .....trouble will follow.
Its very easy- once something is out of place- to have other issues.

Anyway...I'm glad you got it off. That slide should go on and off fairly easy.
