CM 40 breaking magazine followers

I'm new to this forum and bought my first Kahr firearm a CM 40. Has anyone else with the same pistol experienced broken magazine followers with their CM 40? While going through break in mine broke the first follower at about the 175th round I thought it was a problem with the magazine and sent it back. Around 225 th round I broke another one. I've called Kahr, they knew about this issue as though it should be a recall but I've yet to see or hear of a recall. It cost me $65.00 to ship it to Kahr, it took 3 weeks to fix it and it was sent back to me with no notification or tracking number. This is my first Kahr and probably the last due to their shoddy treatment toward me.

Howdy!!! !!!

Ive read a couple threads on the followers breaking,
Well first of all let me say welcome to the forum. And sorry to hear about your problem with your new CM40. Unfortunately things go wrong sometimes and maybe whoever you spoke with at Kahr could have handled the matter better. My only experiences with their customer service have been positive. I ordered 2 mags and grips a month ago and the shipment was short the mags. I called customer service and they were nice about it and sent the mags right out to me. A couple of weeks later I ordered another mag for my K40, it didn't fit properly. A call to customer service, got auth to return, when they received it my account was credited. Maybe you should call them back and speak to someone else in customer service and see if they will credit the cost of your shipping the items back them. It never hurts to try. They do make a quality product and long term I think you will be happy.
I have a CM40, too, and my follower broke right at 150 rounds. I spent hours searching the net and saw lots of responses about the feed ramp bumping into the follower. If you reassemble pistol without the spring/slide and tilt the barrel with a mag in it, you may be able to notice this. I used a dremel to remove just enough material while maintaining the gutter form to feed. I haven't had a problem, since. But keep in mind that this will probably void your warranty.
Welcome..............
What's the best 9mm ammo to use for target shooting and hunting, say boar, for the CM-9? Mine is new and it jams about twice every 6 shots or so…
I held on to four broken magazine followers from my PM40 (similar to CM40). The break on each is so similar to the others that it looks as though they were fabicated that way. I am at ~1500 rounds and have not had one break for a while. I reduced the mag catch and the front right side of the mag follower a little to minimize mag catch/mag follower interference. I also reduced the metal pin on the mag follower for smoother operation of the follower in the magazine. I am more careful (now) about proper orientation of the magazine spring so that it mates with the follower correctly (the open end of the spring should point upwards toward the front of the follower). Some folks have reduced the beveled edge of the slide stop pin point that interacts with the follower metal pin on an empty magazine (if too long it can bind on a bullet causing premature lock back). Do more research before performing mods such as these. Doing too much of any one of these reductions or doing them at the wrong angle can cause malfunctions (dropped mags, failures to lock back). Most people don't need to do them at all.

Welcome to the forum 33roadwarrior33,
Brand new here myself; greetings to all!! What in the world is wrong with the CM/PM40?? This is a seriously LONG issue with a manufacture design flaw and they don't even want to talk about it or really send out replacements? After several deep cleans, replacement springs and various ammo, the CM40 is a complete POS IMO... Sad to say but man, can't think of anything else to repair or replace and Kahr arms is OF NO ASSISTANCE... Can anyone offer a breakthrough on this point??

Kind regards!!
Welcome to the forum.........sorry to hear about your problem........I believe those issues were caused by the leading edge of the feed ramp contacting the mag follower..........have you contacted kahr about the problem.........? In most cases a little minor surgery removing just a bit from the edge of the ramp fixes the problem........you might want to have kahr do it........or if your skilled working on such things, do it yourself just a touch at a time....??

We are more than happy to help you, however it would be nice to have a clear understanding of what your problem is! If the problem is broken followers, Kahr has been very helpful with this matter, or a few strokes of a file can fix the problem!
