I have a chance to trade for a CW40. However, I've read some pretty bad reviews on the CW40 so I figured I'd come and ask you all what you thought of them. I read a few posts about spring issues.

Give me you honest opinion on this gun.

If I didn't already have a cw45 I might consider trading if it was a good deal. Based on what others have said I'm glad I have the 45. It shoots great.

I've had a CW40 since 2009. It's been great. About 3,000 rounds down the tube no problems.

I carried this thing just about every day. I think that I need a second one, for a spare. You know, stuff happens.

I have not shot a CW45. I have shot a bunch of 1911's.

The .40 has a lot more "snap" than a .45. From having shot a lot of .45 and .40 I would say that there is no way that the CW45 would have more "snap or recoil" than a CW40. If anything the CW45 would be more "pleasant" to shoot.

If you can shoot a .40 I would not worry about a .45.

Just my not so humble opinion, based on what I think I should know :lolu:

You answered as I had read you should. All I've heard is as you wrote. Why do you like the 40 over the 45, Kahr's is what I'm talking about, based on recoil characteristics?

Based on my past experience with a k40, which was a nice shooting 40, it was still snappy compared to a 9mm or a 45. I personally like the 45, and enjoy shooting them. If you want the extra pop a 40 provides in a compact gun for sd I can see it....... but I wouldn't enjoy shooting it as a range gun, the 45 has a push when shooting as it's a lower pressure round.

That's why I asked the question. If I were using it for SD then I would want the most responsive gun I had. In this case the 45 would be my selection as less recoil quicker back on target, more comfortable to shoot. One thing going for the 40 was it seemed whenever I was looking for ammo the 40's were most always there. Have said this I'm a firm believer in a guy or gal shooting anything they want to shoot. I'm only thinking out loud reason why I would pick the one over the other. Again, not critiquing here just my thoughts. BTW I've not shot a 40. I've read up on all the Kahrs though and specifically the 40. I've also stayed at the Holiday Inn......grin.

I guess that I don't notice "minor" differences in recoil in pistols CW size and up to "normal" size. I can for sure tell the difference between a CW40 and a PM40, 'cause I used to have one. The smaller PM had more muzzle jump than the CW.

I did get rid of the PM40 'cause I found that I could pocket carry the CW40 just as easy as the PM40. So no longer need the PM.

Pro'ly not much help to ya, but typing is part of my physical therapy program. I did say physical not mental.

Naw! I carry a knife (or two) but I still have trouble properly manipulating ($10 word) it. It's easier to hang on to the CW40.

The "fortay" is one of the gauges I use to show improvements in my coordination. I was once a "fairly good" pistol shooter, I'm not quite back to "parr" yet. I am getting better faster now.

I have a cw40 which I've owned for 2 months now. I ran 200 rounds through this gun right out of the box with out cleaning it or inspecting it flawlessly!!! No jams, fail to fire, no ejection issues,no mag issues. I use this as my concealed carry everyday and i feel very confident in this gun!!! I've ran 350 rounds with no problems.
