Hi, I'm trying to figure out how introduce myself. My name is Wynn. I'm 63 and I live in sight of (but not on) the Saint John's River and can see the Dame's Point Bridge as I type. I just replied to the guy asking about any other Floridians here. I've been in Jacksonville the last 12 1/2 years and had a CCW permit since December 1997. I retired from the Air Force in 1988 and my wife retired in 1996 and then we moved here from San Antonio. We love the area and Florida has some of the best gun laws in the country.
See my first post -- a reply to Fuel4Fire for more info that I won't repeat here. I've been looking for information on the Kahr P380 and this seems to be a great site. I look forward to sharing information with the membership.

welcome Wynn! I'm right around the corner from you in St. Augustine, but I grew up in Jacksonville. I just bought my P380 this past Saturday at the Morocco Shrine Auditorium. It was a great show, and I got what I think was a fair price from Shooters at the show. If you haven't been to Shooters on University, they are a GREAT bunch of fellas.
Thanks, guys. Maybe in another month or two I can describe my new p380 with night sights -- it's shipping in the fall. -- THIS one, I hope.
Claybreaker, that p380 I saw at the show must have been the one you bought. I didn't pay attention to the vendor name.
I need to get over to Shooters some day. I've heard that they have the best prices around here, but that show price -- $50 over retail -- didn't impress me.
I've ordered a lot of ammo from Sportsman's Guide. They have pretty good prices, but most of the ammo delivery/available dates keep getting pushed back. My latest -- Fiocchi JHPs -- just went from the end of this month to 1 March! I lucked out and got some Hornady Critical Defense ammo from them back in May and then I got 4 boxes of Aguila FMJ at Outpost Armory when I was coming back from my daughter's wedding in southern Illinois a few weeks ago. It was "only" $22 something a box and with Tennessee's 10% tax there, I got back almost $2 from my last $100 bill. I've got the ammo but no gun.

Sorry Wyntrout
I did not see your post.
What can I do for you?

Hi, Fuel4Fire.
I didn't need anything. I was just giving more information about me in introducing myself.
I was doing some searching tonight for P380s and information and ran across some discontent with them on the SIGforum site. That didn't give me any warm fuzzies.
I did run across one in Daytona Beach -- about 95 miles away -- for $569. I don't know if it's still available, but I was thinking about it... AND what my wife would think if I got that one while I'm still waiting for the P3833N that I already paid for the end of April. I'm not good at waiting for things.
Cheers.

I know what you mean...when you want something you want it...now!
I finally have ammo and will get some shooting time over the holiday.
I have not put many rounds through since sending my p380 back for some issues. I think things will be fine though. Have a good Thanksgiving.

what was the discontent??/ on the sig forum. Maybe they were pro 380 sig that is out there also. Nice gun but certainly no pocket gun like the P380, being a single action 380.

No doubt either that the Kahr P380 is not everyones gun either.
I had an 8% failure to feed issue. I think they call it a type 3 malfunction. Everything would get jammed up, i could not rack it to clear things. I would have to release the magazine (no easy task when it was fouled up) and then could rack it to clear.
They polished the rails and feed ramp and changed out the spring and things seem much better with the 50 rounds i have shot since getting the gun back. I have been unable to find ammo until 4 days ago, bought some online. One thing I have noticed is so far I do not have to use the slide lock to chamber the first round like I did initally.
Hopefully that remains the case as the gun gets more experience.

Hi, Guys... AND Gals.
That was the biggest theme -- FTF and some FTE. Several guys, I think, had bought two P380s at the same time and had similar problems with both, even though the serial numbers were separated quite a bit.
I think that there is a lot of learning to be done in chambering a round and cleaning and lubricating some areas of the gun. I think that the less lubricant left in the action, the better.

and also 200 rounds down range will normally get all little issues solved. the gun/shooter all have to mate up to get reliable. My PM9 started out stiff as a cobb, worked perfect though but today it is as smooth as glass due to rounds down range and proper lubeing in areas of need. I do think the kahr lube chart is super...
