How to sight the PM9????

This may seem like a terribly naive question, but I've only gotten into handguns since the election. How do you line up the sights on the PM9? Do you place the front dot directly on the bullseye with the rear dot overlapping, or do you have the front sight sitting "stacked" or on top of the rear dot" I've also been told that you put the front dot just under where you want the bullet to hit. Sorry, but I'm confused. I don't have any trouble with my M&P 9C with it's three dot sights, but I'm having a problem with the Kahr PM9 sights. My shots have been going to the lower left and I understand that's a shooter problem with the long trigger pull, but I'm not confident I'm even lining up the the sights correctly.

Thanks

alot depends on the sites on the weapon. If you have the xs big dot site, you cover the target with it. I even with my regualr kahr sites cover half the target with them, as I have a tendency to shoot low with my kahrs due to my lack of good trigger discipline.

the best advise I could give you is to get about 7 yards and sit in a chair or something where you have better contol and just test out your site pattern. I see alot more of my front site than I do on my G19, but that is OK for me, maybe not for u. Your front site is your friend, it is what u should see CLEARLY, not the rear site , nor the target itself. They will be in ur picture. You can't see all 3 clearly, ur eyes won't allow it. remember ur PM9 is a close defense gun, not a 25 yard range gun IMO. You will get very good at point of aim with your kahr,if you work at it. IMO, if your looking for same hole accuracy at 15 yards, u better buy another style gun. Kahrs IMO are because of their looooong trigger pull just harder to shoot that accurate. The guns itself will certainly do it, I have found that most shooters can't though.

Now I am using myself in alot of my quotes to. I am 65 and I have shot for 48 years, and I still am not a good shot, so YVMV . I shoot only on the FBI "Q" target, there is no bullseye on them, it is merely the bowling pin slhouette outline of what would be a kill area. I figure if it is good enough for them, then it is good enough for me also. I hate bullseye targets with my kahrs (cause I can't hit um with confidence) but I can put every shot in the FBI "Q" target at 15 yards and under and at 7 yards my groups are very very tight (for me). Practice close, your threat will be close, practice unorthadox style also, one hand, strong/weak hand, two hands, POA (alot) You can get very very fast with POA shooting for you may not know it but your are still seeing that front site in ur POA shooting. It is a reference.

I see some come out to our range and start shooting their handgun at 25 yards, some are good to (but not with kahrs) but I look at every one of those guns and none can be carried in your front pocket like my PM9 can.

I have a super tuned and customized G19 with dawson fiber optic adjustable sites on it and it is dead nut accurate at 25 yards. Makes me feel llike Todd Jarrett (I jest there) but it is what it is . My range gun and my home gun, nothing more. I never carry it, I will not dress to carry, never have in 46 years of ccw.

Now don't get me wrong, someone will post a bullseye target that is full of holes and with their Kahr. They will do it. There are some damn good shooters on this forum and I sure ain't belittling a kahr for accuracy either. My K9 is very accurate for me over my PM9 but my G19 puts it to shame also the Glock and the Kahrs are two different guns that work totally different also in trigger pull etc...

Just shoot it like u stole it and accuracy will come to you.

and oh yes ur shots low and left are shooter trigger discipline ( I bet u are right handed to). Get some snap caps, about a a half dozen and throw them randomly in with about 30 rounds of ammo and let someone load your magazines for you. It will show u big time what you are doing when you pull the trigger on a snap cap. U don't know it but you are anticipating the shot and pulling low and left.(results of a loooooong trigger) You can adjust ur sites L/R but to bring ur shots up, u will have to see more of the front site and that is ok. You can master a bad habit, but once you get to be shooting more, you will again find yourslef readjusting your sites as ur bad shooting habits are now starting to improve. You sites will look like they have been run over by a mack truck from banging left and then right and then back left. U talking to the voice of experience with that crap. and ask any kahr owner, those sites are in there so tight that some cannot be moved without a site pusher.

I have an M & P 9 customized by David bowie of bowie tactical. Wow what a tack driver it is, but don't compare your M & P to a kahr. actually your M & P is really a single action gun, as it is 95% precocked and just waiting for you to touch the trigger. Mine travels less than an 1/8" before going bang. Your kahr will travel 3/8" before going bang. You should shooot your M & P far better. now try putting it in ur FRONT POCKET ;D ;D
