You are basically correct.............and of the 2 tritium sights I bought from kahr in the past, for my mk9 and k40 the instructions for both were to use a sight pusher ........ not a punch....!!
 
I didn't have a pusher ........ a smith at the range I go to did it for me........he used a generic pusher and still had a hell of a time getting the sight out........I only did the front sights....he charged me $10 a sight ......it was worth it to me to not f...up the slide....
 
If the sight pusher is the correct shape for the sight and clamps with padded jaws or clamps using the frame rail slots, there should be no problems. Using a punch on night sights can break the little ampules that contain the green glowing goo. :crushed::angry:
Lefty uses radioactive isotopes for his night sights..........1/2 life of 500 years .....give or take 100 ?
And in a pinch he can make a mini nuke with them should the need arise.........
