Considering having my PM9 milled. Kahr says it will not void my warranty but that milling-caused reliability issues would not be covered, of course.

My question is: do people have experiences milling PM9 slides? If so, what is your experience on affects to reliability?

This is my CCW weapon, so I can't go ahead with this one vendor until I am confident that it will still be an ultra-reliable weapon.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome misterkarl.......... that's your call- you are the one who will live with the results (good or bad).

If it were me...(my opinion)....I would not do that. I would update to a newer gun that is suited for the optic I wanted.
Lots of new stuff out there now- Sigs 365 series seems to have opened the door to personal carry guns. Now several gun manufacturers are cranking out new smaller carry guns that are lighter in weight and higher capacity- and most are "optic" ready. I just see too many other options out there today. But- your call...and welcome to the club :)

I considered putting a red dot on mine, but ultimately decided against it. I just don't think my target acquisition time is as good with a red dot. Besides, playing the odds, many self defense situations find individuals not even using thier iron sights. However, some recent shootings with 40-50' distances involved would really tip the scales to a red dot.

Just my two cents.

I wouldn't... I used to EDC a PM9, and thought it was great (it is a nice edc pistol, especially with MCarbo's spring kit).

Now I have a Sig p365 SAS with a RomeoZero RDO conversion... a way better setup, including superior trigger. Look into it, you'll be glad you did.

Kahr is pocket size pistol for Concealed Carry, so. A red dot on such a small gun, does not make much sense. Gunfights start and end, on average at a distance of three yards. Red dots are worthless at that range. You won't have enough time to bring the red dot to eye level. Red Dots are helpful for cops, and home invasions. I should mention for competition.

California :( Don't want to pay some cop 2-3x MSRP for one

Why on earth would a red dot be more handy for a cop than CCW? To shoot someone running away more accurately?

I am considering this mod, too. Right now I have a Veridian reactor five green laser. I just bought her a 507HE with a green dot. I’m gonna play with it a little before I mill the slide. But I also have Trijicon night sights on my slide. So I’m considering buying another slide and having it milled, so that I’m not confusing to many sites at once. And if I don’t like the results of the milled slide, I can keep my original one.

That's a good idea, I wasn't aware you could buy Kahr slides online. Seeing used ones on eBay

I sent mine to Galloway Precision with a Holosun 407k and I'm happy with it. There have been slight improvements to my shooting. There have been no downsides other than cost. It was an upgrade I'm glad I did because I wouldn't always wanted to do it anyways. The turnaround time was also much quicker than promised.

If I lived in a state besides California, I would not buy a Kahr to mill it, and instead buy a P365. But if you already have a Kahr, it's a nice upgrade and makes the weapon more appealing in case you ever decide to get rid of it.

Thanks for the info. Would you post pictures?

I took a different route with mine, and designed a mount to work with the Leupold Deltapoint Micro (Glock version). I think it makes more sense as a carry sight, and even with the dot off it still works quite well as a ghost ring sight.

That's cool, how'd you go about getting the mount to work? I believe that Kahr and Glock sights might be very close in dimensions
Well, that's what I thought, too. That may be the case for the newer guns, insofar as I could find measurements, but I have one of the older ones with the big dovetail, so I had to design my own dovetail block to fit the wider opening. I'm a mechanical engineer, so I took a bunch of measurements and drew up a 3D model in CAD and iterated a couple of times to get the clearances right. It's a good press fit in the dovetail and it slots into the recoil lug on the DPM nice and neatly. I did have to clearance drill and tap the holes in the block, since you can't print really good threads that small.

Very cool, thank you for sharing. I wanted to go down this route but heard mixed things about that sight. Looks great to me though
