reasembly of cm 9

I am having trouble getting the slide back on the gun. It seems the guide rod doesn't easily go into the hole at the muzzle and this stops the slide from going back far enough to put the pin in. Any body have an idea what I am doing wrong. I usually get it finally after lots of frustration?:mad:
