Slide Not Locking Back

5359 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  John70
Put about 36 rounds through the P380 this past Friday and was having a problem with the slide not locking back after the last round was fired. Called Khar today and told the tech about the problem and he determined that it was the slide stop spring and to bend it up approximately one degree. He is also sending a new spring. When I got off the phone I followed his directions and the slide locks back as it should. Khar, if you read this, thanks for the great customer service.

I recently purchased a nearly new CW40 and I am having the same issue. I have adjusted the spring slightly higher and also tightened the slide stop screw...but, to no avail. When the magazine is inserted, the slide stop lever raises, but not enough to lock the slide back. Any advice/tips?
Does it do this with more than one mag, could be the mag........or could be out of spec slide stop lever........possibly a weak slide stop spring ?
The slide stop spring is SUPPOSED TO RIDE ON TOP OF THE SLIDE STOP. The spring is supposed to hold the slide stop down, the magazine follower then pushes the slide stop up to lock the slide back.

When installing the slide stop it is easy to get the spring under the slide stop, causing premature slide lock.
With an empty mag installed and the slide stop will not raise enough to lock the slide back, check to see if the follower is trying to lift the slide stop. If it is making contact but can't lift it : The slide stop spring in NOT installed correctly or the mag follower is broken, or the mag spring is very weak.

If you can't see what's happening, remove the slide, reinstall the slide lock, insert an empty mag and watch what happens.
I would almost bet its a follower problem.
