Striker stuck

I took my cw380 apart today. Reassembled it and racked the slide several times. Pulling the trigger revealed a different sound than usual. I see that the striker is cocked about half way and won't go forward no matter what I do. Any cures before I call K ? Thanks

That's probably where the tip of the pin stuck. As long as the channel bore is still smooth it shouldn't be a problem.
Do you think it will prevent the striker from traveling forward all the way. If you look down your channel is the bottom totally smooth. Trying to make sure you know where it is....it is on the inside surface of the breech face. Also, I don't think I lost any of the pin.
Wow glad you found it..........good call Toney....
Ah, thank you for the pictures...sorry if I made you clean your gun! Camera accessory Camera lens Gadget Cameras & optics Camera
Here is mine taken with an actual camera. That 'blob' doesn't belong there. Assuming it has been there all along, every time the gun was fired the striker would hit unevenly causing a torque on the assembly....perhaps causing the fracture. Looks like I'm putting it all back together and sending to Kahr.

Thanks again for your suggestions and help!

Yeah... doesn't look like mind...
I has been thinking about cleaning my channel out anyway, I'm not really sure how many rds it gone through, 4-600

Only been 2 since I cleaned the pistol last, my brother wanted to try it.
Yea, l thought at first your (post) cw was locked up, you were talkin bout slide only. Didnt read clear enough. I would like to have those screwdrivers to take "side" plate off grip for looking and cleaning.

Also. The spring on the slide release needs to be strong. They should have a change and offer it as mail out or mail cw in. I have worked on keepin fingers off but its a safety issue.

I have 450 rnds thru my cw, straight shooter.

I don't know how you guys deal with the slide release ... I had to change my grip on my m&p cause I was holding it down with my thumbs. Had got into the habit of shooting with my thumb on top of the grip or ambi safety shooting 1911s.

Yeah kahrhauler I thought you were confused at first :) . When I removed the plate, I used a push-pin to push on the extractor rod while pushing/sliding the back plate off. The advantage was that I could use some of the other fingers on that hand to help move and control the plate and springs. It was just a bit trickier controlling everything when putting it back on.

Does anyone know if Kahr frowns upon owners opening up and cleaning the channel. I know the book says they won't honor the warranty if you disassemble the gun more than described in the owner's manual AND it results in the damage. My interpretation is it is okay to do but if you break something, too bad.
Yeah that's how I see it......
Well toney, i might forget if the shtf. Just make spring stronger? Aint that what it needs? I shoot cw380 only at 3 & 5 yrds. Just make a hole then keep shootin thru that hole.
As an update...got through to Kahr today. Told them what was wrong, they took down my info, gave me a RA #, and just got my label emailed to me. All done in a couple of minutes! So as soon as this snow passes me by in NC, I'll bring it to FedEx and send it on it's way. I'm really curious what happened. Don't like that kind of failure. Fortunately, I've only found one other instance on the internet.
It's not a common problem with a Kahr........
If you get through to tech support please share with me how you did that. I have called and left messages 3 times and even sent a fax and I haven't gotten a responses from them.

Being a Liaison type guy I'm wondering how and what this "blob" is. The hole is machined so at one time that blob was not there. So what is it and how did it become stuck to the metal? Could it be knocked loose?

I couldn't knock it loose. The first few times I cleaned the gun there were a lot of steel flakes. I attributed that to breaking it in. I don't have a clue what it might be.

I called once, sent an email through their site, and when I called again, I got through. I guess I would advise you to call until you get through. If you choose to leave a message, you may want to number each message and maybe a reminder of when the first message was left. When you have reached your limit, tell them that you will expect a call back that day, or else you will file a formal complaint with the BBB. I haven't had any big problems with Kahr the two times I've contacted them but with other companies when I had a problem, the aforementioned approach got results! :) I love the gun...I'm even splurging and picking up a P380 to go with the CW. One to shoot occasionally and carry. The other to use at the range.
UPDATE: Kahr had my CW380 for a month. I received it back today and they replaced the striker and the extractor. If there was anything wrong with the slide they didn't say. I guess I"m good to go..except I bought a P380 while waiting (my 'total' cost was only about 150 more than the cw) and I think I'm liking it more than the CW380...off to the range this weekend to use both!
Let us know how it goes....
I'm with Ron here, it does sound like something caught...
